Craft Room Journey....

This is my storage building. A few years ago it sit by the road and I had a children's resale shop in it. I didn't have a lot of business, but it was fun and I tried. That's what counts... I tried! I was open a couple of years and then decided to shut it down. We moved the building into our pasture, just outside of our back yard. My husband built the hitching post for our horses. It's a cute little building and I have BIG PLANS for it.

Here's what it looks like inside right now. Sad, I know. BUT... I will have a yard sale this weekend... FINALLY! It's been raining for the past month so my yard sale has not gone as planned. It's going to be dry and warm all week so this week I will be pricing and organizing.

Look at this mess!!
See that cute iron bed? It's going in my daughter's room. We'll paint it as soon as she decides on a color. My mother bought this bed for me about 30 years ago. It's been gold, peach and the burgundy color it is now.

This is my husband's side of the building.

My BIG PLANS..... are.... to clear the building out and make it my craft room. It will probably take awhile, but when it's finished I'm going to be one *happy crafter*
I have an antique door that I'm going to make into a crafting table and lots of ideas, which I will document in my blog.

Stop by and watch my progress. Also, I will be asking for ideas.

Have a great week y'all~

Ruby Slippers... there's no place like home, there's no place like home, there's no place like home...

One of my daughters decided to be Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz for Halloween this year. She found the costume, but it didn't come with ruby slippers and we didn't have any laying around the house so we got inventive. We went to Goodwill (one of my fave places) and found a pair of white, not very pretty pumps in almost her size (a tiny bit big.) They were about $4... bargain. I told her we would just spray paint them and she looked at me like I was crazy. I'm thinking, "come on Lydia, I've been your mother for almost 15 years... I'm crafty... hello!?" So anyway, I spray painted them and they turned out perfect. (Sorry, I forgot to get a before picture when they were still white.)

We bought glitter and she had glue and a paint brush. She just painted the glue on....

Then sprinkled the glitter on....

And wa-la...
ruby slippers!

She got artistic with the left over glitter

Here are my babies at our church fall festival... all dressed up.

Lovely

Lovely, huh?

I took this "lovely" picture of myself several weeks ago. Sometimes I like to take picture of myself. (I think I've told ya that before.) I got used to taking picture of myself for my 365 days project on flickr (I was trying to paste a link to my 365's here, but for some reason it won't paste... see my flickr account if you wanna.) Anyway....this picture is how I've felt for about a week. I've had a headache off and on for a week. I think it's because of the change in weather. Also, my hair is "lovely" in this picture. I haven't had it cut in MONTHS!! One reason is, I feel guilty for spending $50 on a haircut when we need groceries. The other reason is my hairdresser was in a wreck and she hurt her hand and had to have it operated on so she's been out for a couple of months. I've been wearing my hair up because it's so hideous with all the split ends and frizziness from all the rain. I swear I could be a witch for Halloween and not need a wig! No kidding! It also needs to be colored, which I will be doing myself tomorrow. I told my husband I made an appointment to get it cut and I don't care if we don't have any food to eat as long as my hair looks good again. I've already picked out my new cut. There's a picture of Cindy Crawford in my new MORE magazine. She has a really cute shag 'do that I like. And YES, I know I'm not going to look like Cindy Crawford just because I get my hair cut like hers. Just ONE week from today and I won't have to wear my hair in a scrunchy anymore. Ok, so I try not to wear it in a scrunchy, but I might as well. I'm 45 and have a pony-tail. Not cute!
I'll post a picture with my new 'do next Wednesday.... YAY!

gYpSY wind chime 3 finished~

I've finished my third wind chime.... my second *gypsy* wind chime.
I'm having such a good time making these. I love glass beads and I'm enjoying experimenting with wire wrapping.

I started off with a twig and wrapped wire around it to hang the chains from. Then I spent a couple of weeks wire wrapping the glass beads and arranging them on different kinds of chains.

After I got the chains the lengths I wanted and in just the right place hanging from the twig I wrapped "gypsy-looking" material around the wire that was wrapped around the twig. I cut strips from an old satin-y scarf that my mother had bought somewhere... I'm sure at a garage sale. I have a huge pile of scarves that were hers. It was hard for me to cut it up, but I decided instead of them just sitting in a pile on my dresser, I would use them in my craft projects. I think my mother would have wanted me to do that. They had no sentimental value to her, they were just scarves that she bought because she thought they were pretty.

I'm happy with the way my gYpSY wind chime turned out and I plan to make many more.

~ a mixture of chains,
wire,
rich fall colored glass beads,
old keys,
bells
and little bit of velvet ribbon~

Below is the first wind chime I made. I called it my handmade, hippie wind chime. It hung on my front porch for awhile. Then I moved it and hung it in a tree in our backyard. We live on a bit of a hill and sometimes the wind is very gusty and strong. Slowly the beads starting blowing off so now my hippie wind chime no longer looks like this :O)

Below is the second wind chime I made. My FIRST gypsy wind chime and my favorite so far. I have it hanging in my dining room for now. I'm going to keep this one.

Sadly, the picture doesn't do it justice. I've found that it's actually hard to take pictures of my wind chimes that show how pretty they really are.

Thanks for stopping by... hope you enjoyed my little chimes.....

I just love how it turned out.

It's a mixture of tarnished silver beads, turquoise, vintage rhinestone earring and vintage chandelier drop.

It's listed in my etsy shop.

This would make a wonderful Christmas present...

If I can part with it. I really want to keep it!

Something to make you smile

You can't look at these and not smile
:O)
I took these at Wal-Mart the other day when my daughter was looking for a costume. I saw these little cuties and whipped out the camera to take pictures. (sorry for the glare... plastic and wmart lights)

*~pretty flowers~*

See these pretty flowers?

And this pretty flower?

Aren't these pretty too?

Well, now they're gone!
Our puppy dug up some of them a couple of days ago...
And today
Our STUPID horses somehow got into the backyard and ATE the rest of them!!!
The text I sent to my husband about HIS STUPID horses was not very nice.

Sometimes I don't like animals very much.

I prefer pretty pink flowers~*~
